This co-created workshop is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the innate wisdom of the body through menstruality, Yoga, creative expression, and Reiki.

Rooted in decolonial, anti-oppressive, and embodied approaches, this offering creates a supportive space to explore how cyclical awareness, subtle energy, and collective care can become tools for healing, resilience, and liberation. Together, we weave ancient practices with contemporary embodiment to honour the body not as something to fix, but as a site of knowledge, intuition, and power. Together, we’ll explore our relationship to the womb and the bleed through intentional rest, intuitive discovery, and embodied practice.

No prior experience is needed - come as you are and begin the journey of reclaiming the innate power and wisdom of your womb.

This workshop is for those who menstruate and/or feel called to explore menstruality as a source of wisdom, creativity, and embodied knowing. No prior experience with yoga, Reiki, or creative practice is required - only a willingness to arrive as you are.

From September to March, join me for a series of 2 hour monthly Reiki and Yin Yoga workshops exploring the Chakras.

Each session will take you on a deep dive into one of the seven chakras, combining the grounding power of Yin Yoga with the healing energy of Reiki.

Each workshop will focus on balancing and nourishing a specific chakra, helping you to release blockages, restore energy flow, and reconnect with yourself

This is something I started asking myself recently

I started teaching weekday morning yoga at a martial arts studio, everything feels a little different yet refreshing.

There are no yoga mats here. 
Just one large mat that fills the floor, where we move, breathe, and balance together.

No borders. No corners. No designated ‘space’ for each student.

And that shift has been quietly profound, and it’s made me wonder: Are we attached to our mats? Our playlists? Our sequences? The way we were taught to teach? The way we want to be seen?

Teaching here is teaching me.

It’s asking me to loosen my grip on routine, structure, and the illusion of control (I am a typical Virgo so this isn’t something I am naturally great at)

I am getting to explore what teaching feels like when I’m not standing on my usual foundation, both literally and metaphorically

It’s also making me look at the subtle ways we, as teachers, try to manufacture a feeling in our students and often a “feel-good” one

But what if our role isn’t to engineer a particular emotional outcome, but to create a space that honours/welcome whatever arises?

And that might be different for every person, every day. Sometimes liberating, sometimes tender, sometimes even uncomfortable.

I love how being a student of yoga, it’s empowered me to question everything and lead with curiosity

Ajna = “command” or “perception”

This indicates its role engaging our thoughts, feelings, visions, and deeper knowledge

Located between the eyebrows, it is the centre of spiritual insight, higher consciousness and the seat of intuition

It is known as the “third eye” or “gateway to liberation” as this is the doorway went through the entire subtle body world can be perceived beyond the physical

It is sometimes referred to as the “Guru chakra“

Prana means ‘life force’ and Vayus means ‘airs’. The Prana Vayus are the ways in which the prana manifests within the human body.

The Prana Vayus are:
•Apana (downward)
•Samana (equalising - bridge)
•Vyana (circulation)
•Udana (upward)
•Prana (inward)

The three main channels of prana vāyu are the Ida, the Pingala and the Sushumna Nadis (channels running through the body thought to carry the Prana).

Ida relates to the right side of the brain, and the left side of the body, terminating at the left nostril and pingala to the left side of the brain and the right side of the body, terminating at the right nostril.

Ajna is where the Ida (lunar channel) and the pingala (the solar channel) Nadis merge into sushumna (the central spinal through which kundalini energy ascends)

When kundalini rises to ajna, it is said pure knowledge and wisdom unfolds

To balance:
• Jala Neti (nasal cleansing)
• Trataka (fixed gaze for concentration e.g. candle gazing)
• Spend time in meditation or introspection
• Siddhasana (accomplished pose) and ardha matsyendrasana (half lord of the fishes)
• Nodi Sadhana (alternate nose breathing)
• Chant “Aum”

YOGA 4 PALESTINE

Let this be your reminder that yoga is not simply a tool to down-regulate the nervous system to lull the body into compliance.

It is an ancient practice designed to make you aware, to make you strong, to prepare you for the battles of existence - internal and external.

The yogis of history did not retreat into silence and surrender.

They purified themselves to endure, to resist, to live fully.

There is a misinterpretation of ahimsa, the principle of non-harm, in much of modern yoga. Many take it to mean passivity or staying out of harm’s way, choosing personal peace over conflict.

But real ahimsa is not just avoidance of harm. It is the active reduction of harm.

It is standing in the way of oppression. It is breaking cycles of violence not by ignoring them, but by resisting them.

During #internationalyogaday along with many @yogis4palestine and @tejalyoga , we gathered to nourish our physical bodies then discuss how yogic philosophy can inform our solidarity with the Palestinian people.

So, I thought what a better time to share Shanti (peace) Mantra

Let this be an invite to chant, read or share this whilst bringing all beings into your your focus

In a world where mindfulness, self-awareness, and personal growth are increasingly prioritised, mantras and affirmations are often used interchangeably

While both can be powerful tools for inner transformation, they stem from different traditions and serve distinct purposes

Understanding their differences is not just helpful - it’s respectful

A mantra is a word, phrase, or sound repeated during meditation to help focus the mind and connect to deeper states of awareness

Rooted in ancient spiritual traditions, mantras are often in Sanskrit and are believed to carry vibrational power

Mantras are about energy

The repetition creates a rhythm that quiets mental chatter and aligns the practitioner with a higher frequency or intention

An affirmation on the other hand, is a positive, intentional statement used to shift thought patterns and beliefs

Popular in modern self-help and psychology, affirmations are typically stated in the present tense, like “I am worthy,” or “I trust the process of life.”

Their goal is to rewire the subconscious mind by reinforcing empowering narratives

While both tools can be transformative, it’s important to recognise their cultural and spiritual roots

Using a mantra isn’t just a wellness trend - it’s engaging with a sacred practice that has deep cultural and historical significance

When we blur the lines between mantras and affirmations, we risk diluting traditions and overlooking the context in which they were born

Vishuddhi Chakra workshop

“Visha” = impurity
“Shuddi” = purification

Located at the throat, it is the centre of communication, self-expression and purification

It is governs our ability to speak, listen and express with clarity and authenticity

It also acts as a bridge between the heart and the mind, allowing us to articulate our inner wisdom and creative expression

When it is active, it becomes a filter, keeping out poisons that enter thoughts, emotions, energies and impulses so you can remain steady within yourself

To balance:
• Sing or chant
• Practice jala neti
• Practice matyasana (fish), sarvangasana (shoulder stand), ustrasana (camel), vipareeta karani mudra (legs up the wall)
• Practice bramari pranayama
• Meditate “ham” (I am)
• Spend time in mauna (silence) to learn control over words

When we claim that science “validates” yoga, it often reflects a subtle form of cultural ignorance

It implies that ancient Eastern practices gain legitimacy only when measured by Western empirical standards

This perspective overlooks the rich philosophical, spiritual, and experiential dimensions of yoga that have been refined over thousands of years by countless practitioners

By framing science as the ultimate arbiter of truth, it diminishes the value of indigenous knowledge systems that operate on different paradigms - ones that prioritise inner experience, holistic well-being, and non-material understandings of consciousness

Nonetheless, the integration of Western scientific research with Eastern yogic knowledge offers powerful opportunities for growth and understanding

Scientific studies highlighting the physical and psychological benefits of yoga can help demystify the practice for skeptical audiences, making it more accessible and appealing to a global population

When done with humility and respect, this meeting of East and West can foster a more inclusive and widespread appreciation of yoga’s transformative potential

So, instead of “validating” yoga, science might be better understood as catching up to insights long embedded in the yogic tradition

We often think of Vibrahadrasana as “warrior pose” but Vibrahadra was a person

Stories have long served as a primary means of transmitting spiritual truths and philosophical teachings

In yogic and Vedic contexts, storytelling is not merely entertainment - it’s a method for embodying and realising profound truths

Vibrahadra was an incarnation of Shiva and was a fierce warrior, he was born from rage to restore dharma (comic law aka what is right/wrong)

According to one legend, Daksha was upset that Shiva and Sati (Daksha’s daughter) married without his consent

So Daksha conducted a yajna (fire-sacrifice), and deliberately did not invite Sati and Shiva

In the Linga Purana (Hindu text), this caused Sati to self-immolate in fury

Then, Lord Shiva, heartbroken by the loss of his wife Sati, creates Virabhadra from his own hair, charged with the task of punishing King Daksha for his actions

Every warrior pose tells a part of that journey: rising, aiming, striking with intention and purpose

To celebrate International Yoga Day, I am holding a workshop @bristolyogacentre where we will:

•Discuss how story telling is woven into yogic traditions
•Look at the legend of the Vibrahadrasanas (warrior poses)
•Breakdown these asanas for maximum physical, emotional and spiritual development
•Discover how the stories we tell ourselves or that others tell us can impact our well-being
•Complete our practice with some dreamy Yoga Nidra

Anahata Chakra workshop

Anahata = “unstuck” or “unbroken”

The words refer to the cosmic sound that exists without two things striking each other

Located at the centre of the chest, it is the seat of love, compassion and emotional balance

It bridges the earthly and spiritual realms, linking the top and bottom 3 chakra together

Associated with the air element, it governs our capacity to give and receive love, experience deep connection, and cultivate harmony within ourselves and with others.

When balanced, it allows us to experience love freely, forgive quickly, embrace joy and grief with openness, and manifest with ease.

Unbalanced can look like codependency, possessiveness, hard time setting boundaries, breathing issues, chest pain, fatigue, weakened immune system, emotional eating, or difficulty connecting with others

To balance:
•Engage in acts of kindness
•Learn with a guru or teacher
•Practice letting go
•Set your sankalpas (intention) with care
•Hridya mudra
•Practice ustrasana, anjaneyasana, urdhva dhanurasana
•Nodi sodhana pranayama
•Meditate/chant “yam”

The Kama Sutra isn’t just about sex

It’s an ancient celebration of love, pleasure, and the full spectrum of human identity

Long before modern debates on gender identity, the Kama Sutra (India’s ancient text on love and desire) recognised people of a “third nature” (tritiya-prakriti)

These individuals, often assigned male at birth but expressing feminine traits or loving men, are described as existing naturally in society

In Book 2, Chapter 9, it speaks of their roles in relationships, intimacy, and daily life, including practices like oral sex with men - with no shame, no erasure

They were described as beauticians, performers, and attendants. These are roles still reflected in the Hijra community today.

After centuries of marginalisation, including criminalisation during British rule, the Hijra community reclaimed recognition when India’s Supreme Court legally acknowledged them as a “third gender” in 2014

A powerful step in honoring what our ancestors already knew: gender is not a binary, and trans people have always existed, and always will

Whilst India progressed, the UK have regressed.

But, I hope this can be a reminder that history repeats itself.

Queerness is not modern.

It’s ancient.

It’s sacred.

And it’s unstoppable.

To my trans siblings, I love you. We will get through this together. My arms and yoga classes are open to you - always.

Self-employed life means no two days are exactly the same

Balancing rituals and a routine are crucial

Yoga isn’t just a series of movements and breath practices, it’s a state of being

It’s enabled me to be present, content, grateful and conscious

This is just a wee peak into how I spend my days

Hanumanasana (aka monkey pose or splits)

The pose is named after Hanuman, the beloved monkey deity from the Indian epic The Ramayana

In the epic, Rama’s wife Sita is kidnapped by the demon king Ravana and taken to Sri Lanka

Rama enlists the help of Hanuman and an army of monkeys to rescue her

With unwavering devotion and courage, Hanuman takes a colossal leap across the ocean to reach Sri Lanka

That leap is what Hanumanasana symbolises: a stretch across the impossible, fueled by faith

When I first began my asana practice, Hanumanasana was one of those poses I fixated on - not just because of its beauty, but because it felt like a benchmark of “advanced” yoga

Looking back, I realised that desire came more from ego than embodiment

I wanted to prove to myself that I was “good” at yoga - but yoga isn’t about achievement; it’s about awareness

Over time, the pose became less about the split and more about the space it created - in my hips, yes, but also in my mindset

The more I softened into the process, the more I let go of control and expectations

The ego still shows up (it always will), but now I meet it with curiosity rather than competition

The journey to achieving this asana took dedication, acceptance of my physical and mental abilities and the realisation the journey to it could be just as rewarding

Hanumanasana continues to humble me, teach me, and remind me that in yoga, the journey is the destination

Manipura Chakra workshop

Mani = gem or jewel
Pura = city or place

This chakra presents the place of self-confidence, inner power and well-being

It is located by the navel, and it is the centre for personal power, confidence, and transformation

It is associated with the fire element, and thus it governs our willpower and ability to make/take purposeful action

It’s said that kundalini awakening starts from this chakra

When we have a balanced manipura chakra it guides us towards spiritual development

When imbalanced, it can represent as aggressiveness, control tendencies, burn out, lethargy or lack of purpose

To balance:
•Spend time in the sun
•Eat easily digested food
•Try new things
•Dhanursana, matsyendrasana, pascimottanasana
•Kapalabhati pranayama
•Meditate with “ram”

Personally, I just prefer the sounds the body creates than a playlist

Plus, it gives me the chance to incorporate pratyahara (sensory withdrawal) into my classes

Therefore, I very often encourage students to make sounds - this could be an audible sigh, hum, or chanting

Yoga emerged from the Vedic tradition, where sacred chants (mantras) were an essential part of rituals and meditative practices

These mantras, often drawn from texts like the Rig Veda, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Gita, were believed to connect practitioners with the divine, elevate consciousness, and cultivate inner peace

Sounds play a profound role in influencing the nervous system, making them powerful tools in a yoga practice

Chanting “Om” (said like “Aum”) creates a vibration that reverberates through the chest and head, calming the mind and steadying the breath

These sounds create vibrations that resonate through the body, influencing both the mind and the nervous system

Sound vibrations can stimulate the vagus nerve, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress

This physiological response helps regulate heart rate, lower cortisol levels, and bring the body into a state of balance

In yoga, incorporating mantras during meditation (dhyana), pranayama (breath control), or as part of a flow practice deepens mental focus, enhances mindfulness, and fosters a sense of inner peace

By aligning breath, movement, and sound, we can harmonise our nervous system, cultivate emotional resilience, and achieve a deeper state of presence on and off the mat

Also, providing a space for people to make noise and express can dismantle any worry we have attached to speaking up or sounding “silly”

Many people mistakenly associate yin yoga solely with the winter months, believing its slow, introspective nature aligns best with colder, quieter seasons

and, I totally understand the assumption as we often practice with blankets, eye pillows etc. and are regularly floor-based

However, yin yoga is equally valuable during the summer, a time characterised by heightened energy, activity, and the fiery yang element

Summer corresponds to the fire element in Traditional Chinese Medicine, bringing intensity and movement that can sometimes lead to restlessness or burnout

Yin yoga, which is connected to the earth and water elements, offers a grounding counterbalance

By encouraging stillness, deep stretching, and mindful breathing, yin yoga helps calm the nervous system, release tension, and restore inner balance

Practicing yin yoga in summer can provide much-needed moments of quiet reflection, helping to cool the body’s energetic heat and foster a sense of calm amid the season’s high energy

My practice has taught me what I did not know I am capable of

As a former Ashtangi, my dedicated practice of Ashtanga Yoga (ashta meaning “eight” and anga meaning “limb”) instilled in me a deep sense of discipline, precise form, and unwavering consistency

The structured sequence and breath-synchronised movements demanded focus and commitment - qualities I did not posses back then but that still continue to shape my approach to both practice and teaching

Now, my primary focus is on Vinyasa Yoga (vi meaning “in a special way” and nyasa meaning “to place”), which has taught me the beauty of fluidity and the art of adaptability

Through Vinyasa’s creative and flowing nature, I’ve learned to:

🌊 move with intention
🥀 find grace in life’s constant evolution
🌬️ embrace change more (something I still struggle with to be honest)

I love how much there is still to learn

Yoga is so vast and I still feel like I’ve just begun to understand all it has to offer

A lot of my practice is very slow these days

I’ve been practicing yoga for over a decade and, despite it’s constancy in my life, it has evolved and meandered through different styles and lineages

Don’t get me wrong, every time now and then, I absolutely love love love strong and dynamic movement but I have really come to learn how sacred and valuable slowness is

As someone with anxiety, it can feel like you’re constantly rushing or going to be in trouble if things don’t go accordingly

So being able to slow down, give myself time, and reject the need to be “doing” stuff, has proven to be an invaluable lesson

Taking pause, rest and/or time is one of the great self care practices I offer myself ever day

This is why I love teaching Yin

inversions during menstruation, yay or nay?

in yoga philosophy, menstruation is often associated with apana, the downward-flowing energy responsible for elimination and release

this perspective is one reason why some traditions advise against inversions during menstruation

as flipping upside down is thought to disrupt this natural energetic flow

however, from a physiological standpoint, testosterone levels are relatively high during the period, which can contribute to increased strength and energy

movement, including gentle inversions, can also serve as a natural pain reliever by:

🌀 improving circulation
🔅 reducing cramping
🚺 releasing endorphins

while some students may feel comfortable avoiding inversions to honor the energetic perspective, others may find them beneficial

ultimately, the best approach is to listen to the body and practice in a way that feels supportive and nourishing

Svadhisthana Chakra workshop
Sva = self
adhisthana = seat or residence

Located between the coxcy and sacrum, it is the centre of creativity, emotion and sensuality.

This chakra governs our joy, self-expression, healthy relationships and creativity.

When balanced, this chakra allows us to flow to life with ease in grace, self-expression, confidence and creativity.

An imbalance chakra can present at lower abdomen or back pain, issues with sex organs, being unable to regulate emotions or creativity blocks.

To balance:
•Spend time near water
•Create to your hearts desire
•Journaling
•Make time for fun
•Pran Mudra
•Practice Balasana, Bhujangasana, Supta Bandha Sarvangasana, Ananda Balasana

what is the svadhisthana (aka sacral) chakra?

sva = self
advisthana = seat or residence

this chakra governs our joy, self-expression, healthy relationships and creativity

when it is blocked, it can cause issues both physical and emotionally

Kriya Pranayama

kriya = "action," "practice," or "ritual”
pranayama = “breath control”

this is a powerful yogic breathing technique that is part of the broader Kriya Yoga system, which was popularised by Paramahansa Yogananda in his book Autobiography of a Yogi

it involves a combination of rhythmic breathing, concentration, and meditation to purify the nervous system, enhance spiritual awareness, and accelerate inner transformation

this practice is designed to direct prana(life force energy) along the spine, awakening higher consciousness

benefits of kriya pranayama
1. enhances spiritual growth - deepens meditation and fosters self realisation
2. calms the mind - reduces stress, anxiety, and mental chatter
3. Improves focus clarity - enhances cognitive function and decision making

people often think yoga is always fun, easy, or aesthetically beautiful, but my personal practice is rarely that

some days, it feels heavy, messy, or frustrating

there is a misunderstanding that the more you practice, the “better” you become but, for a lot of us, it is not a linear line of progress

and the simple truth is you cannot be “good” at yoga - you practice yoga

and our can practice be influenced by how we are feeling, what we have been up to, the events happening around us etc.

with the current political climate and general state of the world, I am often left feeling overwhelmed and powerless

yoga is political

we know this from how it has been used to cultivate resilience during the Indian Independence Movement, Civil Rights Movement, Feminist Movement and more

despite not being able to achieve the “perfect” asana and how unhappy I look in this video, my yoga practice brings me a great sense of calm and peace

a love letter to yogasana

I cannot believe the confidence, gratitude and ability I have in my physical body because of asana

often my teaching is focused on sharing the other aspects of yoga outside of asana but the reality is, like many others, I fell in love with yoga because of asana

it’s the one constant thing in my life that I never tire of, even after 10+ years of practice

with the run up to Valentine’s Day, there is an overwhelming focus on romantic love - however, yoga teaches us that of oneness and love to all beings

so, as a small token of my respect and love to all students of yoga, I am running a ‘bring a friend for free’ offer in february

Muladhara Chakra workshop

Mula = root
Adhara = support

This chakra presents the sense of groundedness, safety and connection to Earth

It is located at the bottom of the spine where infinite pranaic energy lies dormant

When we awaken this energy (prana) we receive the light of true knowledge (jnana) and move toward self realisation

A balance root chakra allows us to feel secure, confident, and trust

An imbalance or overactive root chakra can lead to anxiety, materialism/superficial, rage and stubbornness, or even insecurity, disconnection, or lethargy.

To balance:
•Spend time in nature
•Walking barefoot
•Practice siddhasana, tadasana or malasana
•Berthumudra (gesture of earth)
•Meditate “yam”

there is only one true moment: now

in his book, The Miracle of Mindfulness, Thich Nhat Hanh discusses that whilst washing dishes we “think only of the cup of tea that awaits us” and therefore we hurry to finish them

he says we are “not alive during that time”

when I started practicing yoga, meditation and mindfulness many moons ago, I began to understand exactly what me means

I noticed how often I was living for the next thing - rushing through tasks, worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past - rather than fully experiencing the present

but the present is all we truly have

each inhale, each movement, each moment of stillness is an opportunity to ~be here now~

the mind will wander, but we can always return to the breath, to the body, and to this exact point in time

life isn’t waiting for us somewhere else; it’s happening right now

yin turned me into the swan whisperer

there is a common misconception that you need lulu lemon leggings, a manduka yoga mat, and a super bendy body to practice

but I can assure you, this is not even close to the truth

the clan and I are away celebrating my sister’s 40th birthday this weekend so I didn’t have any intention of doing any asana

but after a couple of late nights of dancing and karaoke… I definitely needed it

yin aligns with nature’s rhythm, emphasising stillness, patience, and surrendering

by holding poses for extended periods, yin yoga encourages deep tissue release and energetic harmony, mirroring the slow, restorative processes found in nature

befriending this cutie felt like confirmation of this

and, this makes practicing in pj’s an obvious choice, am I right??

and slightly narcissistic apparently…

however, yoga really has given me a chance to fall in love with myself and getting to share that experience is the b e s t feeling

we are so lucky to have an abundance of different teachers with different styles and offerings, so I often hear new students saying they don’t know where to start and which teachers to choose

to which I always ask them what they want from yoga and to find a teacher to aligns with those morals/goals

so this is just a little bit about ✨me✨

my intention for 2025 is to focus on offering an inclusive, fun, and respectful space for all to practice and learn

yoga off the mat

when you think of yoga, does your mind immediately go to a serene studio space, dim lighting, and mats neatly rolled out?

while that’s a beautiful way to practice, it’s also a *modern* view of yoga, and a pretty limited one…

the ancient yogis didn’t confine their practice to studios - they flowed in the open air, meditated by rivers, practiced under trees, and connected with the earth beneath their feet

no mats, no walls, just presence

take your yoga beyond the mat

try meditating on a walk, finding balance on uneven ground, or simply breathing deeply while sitting under the sky

the studio is just one piece of a much larger picture

last class of 2024 is done!

I am beyond grateful for the last 12 months, and for my friends, family, teachers, students, partner and all the doggos that let me love on them

trying to condense the highlights of this year into a video proved pretty hard but it was a treat looking back at all the cool shit that’s happened

Ssshakra? Shok-ruh? Chuck-rah? Chakra?

My mum bought me my very first chakra necklace when I was 17. Since then, I’ve been studying the chakra systems and incorporating it into my yoga practice.

The chakra system is a vital aspect of many South Asian spiritual traditions, particularly in yoga and Ayurveda. It consists of seven primary energy centers aligned along the spine, each corresponding to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual attributes. They are listed below:

* root (Mūlādhāra)
* sacral (Svādhiṣṭhāna)
* solar plexus (Maṇipūra)
* heart (Anāhata)
* throat (Viśuddha)
* third eye (Ājñā)
* crown (Sahasrāra)

The term “chakra” is often mispronounced as “shock-ra,” which can detract from its true meaning and significance. The correct pronunciation is “chah-kra,” with a soft “ch” sound, similar to “chocolate”.

Understanding the correct pronunciation helps to honor the rich cultural roots of these concepts and enhances our connection to the practices surrounding energy and healing in yoga.

Happy Diwali, Samhain, and New Moon 🪔

For me, this year, Diwali looked like deep cleaning my home, lighting diyas and candles, cooking traditional foods, meditating, sharing yoga, and studying yogic philosophy.

Celebrating Diwali away from my ancestral home reminds me of how vital it is to nurture culture wherever we are. Carrying forward traditions like lighting lamps and cooking familiar recipes can feel like a bridge to our roots, keeping us connected.

For those in the global community who find themselves disconnected and/or forcefully removed from their homelands, honouring culture can be a powerful act of resilience and remembrance.

Holding onto traditions preserves the wisdom and warmth of our ancestors and keeps these connections alive for future generations.

Wishing everyone a beautiful, bright Diwali filled with peace, love, and unity across borders.

“Do you do yoga every day?”

This is a question I get asked all the time as a yoga teacher, and my answer is always yes - but not in the way most people think.

I don’t practice asana (postures) every day, and I don’t practice pranayama (breath control) every day.

But I practice yoga every day.

I practice ahimsa (non-violence) through my commitment to veganism.

I practice satya (truthfulness) by educating myself on where my food comes from.

I find santosha (contentment) in the joy of nourishing my body and sharing food, honouring the tradition of connection through meals.

And, these are just a few of many ways yoga shapes my everyday.

yin yoga poses are designed to improve the flow of qi the subtle energy that, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), runs through the meridian pathways of the body

according to TCM, the improved flow of qi improves organ health, immunity, and emotional wellbeing

the Japanese word ‘reiki’ can be translated as ‘universal life energy’ and the Usui System is a way of working with the subtle energetic body for healing of self and others
